She x JAC
SHE X JAC
The Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment is dedicated to empowering girls & young women between the ages of 7-17 years by offering programs focused on arts, life skills, academic success & leadership. Founder Jean Augustine is Grenadian-Canadian educational administrator, advocate for social justice, and politician. She is the first African-Canadian woman to be elected to the House of Commons of Canada and the first to serve in the federal Cabinet.
The Jean Augustine Centre takes a holistic approach to empowerment by providing programs that support the mental, physical & social wellbeing of girls & young women. They enrich the lives of the girls that are part of the center through empowerment, leadership, mentorship, and civic engagement. The four core values play a key role in placing special emphasis on personal development and experiential learning.
We are so so proud to announce our new partnership with JAC in raising $3,000 for their new STEM program to introduce young girls into the world of science and math while teaching them important skills like coding, problem-solving, and how STEM practices are connected to most of the products and systems we use in our daily lives.
SHE X GEM
All profits made from She Clothing Co will be given to charities in Toronto working towards helping women. These organizations work unceasingly in taking down the barriers females face on a day to day basis and global scale.
The organization we are currently working with is Girls E-Mentorship (GEM). Their mentorship program allows girls who face socio-economic barriers in grades 10, 11, and 12 to connect with a successful female mentor in a 9 month program. They believe that "Women Mentoring Women is essential to foster the future success of youth and create an equality of achievement in Canada." We are so excited to be working with GEM, and you can show your support for the cause by purchasing your She Clothing Co. apparel today! With every purchase, you will be helping this incredible organization continue to foster female leaders in our city. Our goal is to raise $2000 for a GEM scholarship which will be distributed at the end of the program. For more information about GEM, please visit their website: http://girlsementorship.com
On June 11th, 2018, we had the honor of spending the day at Google at the GEMinar 5 event to announce the two scholarship winners. GEMinars are experiential workshops designed to put new skills into practice for the GEM girls and to meet new peers, mentors, and professionals. The day was jam-packed with captivating speakers and unbelievably fun activities which brought the She Clothing Co team even closer with the amazing young women apart of the program. The two winners were Rashika Ravintharan and Samia Anwar (left to right). Watch our full scholarship announcement @ Google with this link
